DISKIO - Fixed Disk Benchmark, Version 1.4
(C) 1994 Kai Uwe Rommel
This is a simple fixed disk benchmark for OS/2. It measures
(approximately) the following numbers:
- data transfer rate
- average latency time
- average data access time
- average seek time (= average data access time - average latency time)
Of course the values are influenced by other activity on the system,
so stop all other software if you want reliable results. The benchmark
needs about 30 seconds to complete.
A few sample results (data transfer rate, latency time, seek time):
DEC DSP-3210 + AHA-2740 (EISA) + 486/50: 3650 k/sec, 2 ms, 15 ms
DEC DSP-3160 + AHA-1742 (EISA) + 486/66: 3050 k/sec, 3 ms, 15 ms
DEC DSP-3133L + AHA-2940 (PCI) + Pentium/66: 4350 k/sec, 2 ms, 13 ms
DEC DSP-3053L + NCR 53c810 (PCI)+ 486/66: 4130 k/sec, 3 ms, 13 ms
Quantum LPS-340S + NCR 53c810 (PCI) + 486/66: 1900 k/sec, 5 ms, 18 ms
Quantum LPS-340S + AHA-1542CF (ISA) + 486/50: 1508 k/sec, 6.5 ms, 20 ms
Quantum LPS-540A + IDE (ISA) + 486/66: 1492 k/sec, 4 ms, 17 ms
